1.1.3
Operating concept
The front-panel controls are arranged in
two
distinct groups.
The
most frequently
used
keys are located in the upper section of the
front
panel. The less frequently used controls
such as
the
programming buttons,
manual
tuning buttons, etc. are located in the lower
section of the front panel which can be cov-
ered with an acrylic glass
panel.
The 8261 tuner can be switched on by press-
ing any button in the upper front-panel
sec-
tion.
lf the tuner is
switched
on
with
POWER
ON
t1l,
the
last station tuned
with the
station
selector keys
will automatically
be reactivat-
ed.
This can be prevented by switching on
the
tuner
with selector
key of the desired station.
The tuner features
an
electrically
isolated
REMOTE POWER ON socket through
which
the tuner can be switched on by
a
REVOX
8710 cassette recorder that operates under
the control of
its timer.
1.1.4
How
to
use
these operating instruc-
tions
Because
of
its
functional operating concept,
the 8261 tuner
is
relatively easy to use despite
is
exceptional versatility. Long explanations
are,
therefore, unnecessary
in
this handbook.
At
the beginning of these operating instruc-
tions,
a
fold-out
index sheet has been provid-
ed on which all controls refered to
in the
text
with
a
number between brackets can be read-
ily identified.
Keep
this index sheet unfolded
while studying this
handbook.
The frequencies
orthe
names of stations
men-
tioned
in these operating instructions should
be regarded
as
fictional examples. The corre-
sponding procedure also applies to any other
locally receivable station or
frequency.
The technically interested reader can find ad-
ditional information concerning
reception
conditions,
noise and antennas
in
Section 4 of
this manual (FM reception
hints).
