Preparing for surround sound

Speaker settings

To enable you to obtain optimum enjoyment from the amplifier's listen-
ing modes, make sure to complete the speaker settings (subw oofer,
front, center, surround and surround back speakers) as described below .
(POWER)
If you purchase HTB-S500 system, you may skip step 2 to 4 .
Original settings of this amplifier are adjusted to KSW-S500
speakers.
The original settings are
6ch AM P : 6ch SW
Front : FRONT NM L
Sorround : SURR NM L
Subw oofer Re-M ix : REM IX ON

Turn on the pow er to this amplifier by pressing the
(POW ER) key.

Press the SET UP key to enter the SET UP mode.
Use the TRIM %/ fi keys to select the "SP SETUP"

Press the SETUP key to select the 6ch AM P setting.
The Back Surround and Subw oofer output selections are displayed
as follow s:
1 6ch SW
: SUB/W BS speaker t erm inal w ill out put
Subw oofer sound.
2 6ch BS
: SUB/W BS speaker terminal w ill output Back
Surround sound. Subw oofer pre out w ill have
output from SW only.
3 6ch OFF
: It is not advisable to use SUB/W BS speaker
terminal for this selection.
Use the TRIM % / fi keys to select the speakers.
Press the SETUP key to proceed to the next SETUP selection.

Select a speaker system.
If you have THX certified speakers, please set them to NM L.
1 Press the SETUP key again so that the subw oofer setting
indication "SW ON" appears.

2 Use the TRIM %/ fi keys to select the appropriate subw oofer
setting.
1 SW ON
: Subw oofer setting mode to the amplifier is
ON.
2 SW OFF
: Subw oofer setting mode to the amplifier is
OFF.
• When the setting " SW OFF" is selected using the SET UP key,
the front speakers are automatically set to " FRONT LRG" and the
procedure skips to step 6 .
Before step 6 , press the SET UP key to accept the setting.
3 Press the SET UP key to accept the setting.
• The front speakers setting indication " FRONT" appears.

4 Use the TRIM %/ fi keys to select the appropriate front speak-
ers setting.

• For " FRONT LRG" and " SW ON" selection, no sound w ill be
heard from subw oofer speaker even w hen it is set to on.
How ever, if you select " REM IX ON" in step @ w hen subw oofer
is selected, you w ill be able to hear sound from the subw oofer.
5 Press the SET UP key to accept the setting.
• The center speaker setting indication " CNTR" appears.
