This is in contrast to low frequency currents (0.1 to 1000 Hz) such as LVPC and high frequency currents (1 million Hz and beyond), which include ultrasound, shortwave and microwave diathermy.

These outputs are generally square wave in shape as is the case with the Omnisound. The output of pulsed ultrasound is defined as the average output over one cycle of the carrier, rather than the average over time (time average).
