When switching on the machine, make sure that the workpiece can
rotate freely and does not knock against the lathe bed (H and I) or the
tool rest (D). Make sure that the workpiece is clamped tight and cannot
work loose.
Maintenance
Always check the condition of the lathe first each time before using.
Check the safety devices, switches and mains cable. Check for
loose bolts and screws, poor alignment, contacting moving parts,
broken parts and any other factors that could affect safe operation.
Switch the machine off immediately if there are any unusual sounds
or vibrations. Do not continue to use the machine if there are any
signs of damage. In this case, have it repaired by a qualified techni-
cian or contact the Westfalia Service Department.
Keep your cutting tools sharp and clean for safe and trouble-free
operation.
Adhere to lubrication and tool-changing instructions.
Check the machine's connecting lead regularly and have any
damage repaired by a qualified technician.
Check any extension leads regularly and replace them if they are
damaged.
Keep handles dry and free of oil and grease.
Cleaning
Keep the appliance clean, dry and free of oil and grease.
Pay attention that the ventilation slots in the motor housing are
always free of blockages and foreign bodies. Failure to do so could
result in the motor overheating and being damaged.
Use compressed air or a hand brush to remove wood shavings,
sawdust etc. Never immerse the machine in fluids. Only use a soft,
damp cloth to clean the machine.
Never use easily inflammable or combustible detergents in the
vicinity of electrical tools and machinery.
