Operation

Assembling the Tool Rest

Fasten the base (G) onto the tool rest
using the screw (R), the guide track plate
(Q) and the clamping lever (O). The tool
rest (D) is then placed in the base and
fastened in the required position using the
locking screw.

Operation
The lathe is designed exclusively for machining wood.
All hardwood and softwood, particularly pine, larch and yew, can be
used for turning. The wood must be well seasoned. Squared timber or
trunk or branch sections should be cut into a symmetrical form
(octagonal, round) first. Centre the workpiece first before clamping so
as to ensure that the workpiece does not turn out of balance, see fig. 6.

Centring a Squared Piece of Wood

Depending on the thickness and type of wood, it may be necessary to
drill a hole in the centring point and make several small saw cuts in the
end of the timber section facing the lathe tip (T) so that the teeth of the
lathe tip can bite into the material more effectively.
