Important: There is a safety switch on the cover of the belt array which prevents the
lathe being operated whilst the belt array is open. The machine can only be operated
after the cover has been closed tight.

Switching ON / OFF

The ON/OFF switch is located on the upper section of the motor housing. The machine is switched
on by pressing the green button and switched off by pressing the red button. The switch has an
under voltage release. This means that the machine does not start up again automatically after
an interruption in mains supply but has to be started again by pressing the ON switch.
When switching on the machine, make sure that the workpiece can rotate freely and does not
knock against the lathe bed or the tool rest. Make sure that the workpiece is clamped tight and
cannot work loose.

MAINTENANCE

Always check the condition of the lathe first each time before using. Check the safety
devices, switches and mains cable. Check for loose bolts and screws, poor alignment,
contacting moving parts, broken parts and any other factors that could affect safe operation.
Switch the machine off immediately if there are any unusual sounds or vibrations. Do not
continue to use the machine if there are any signs of damage. In this case, have it repaired
by a qualified technician or contact the Westfalia Service Department.
Keep your cutting tools sharp and clean for safe and trouble-free operation.
Adhere to lubrication and tool-changing instructions.
Check the machine's connecting lead regularly and have any damage repaired by a qualified
technician.
Check any extension leads regularly and replace them if they are damaged.
Keep handles dry and free of oil and grease.

Cleaning

Keep the appliance clean, dry and free of oil and grease.
Pay attention that the ventilation slots in the motor housing are always free of blockages and
foreign bodies. Failure to do so could result in the motor overheating and being damaged.
Use compressed air or a hand brush to remove wood shavings, sawdust etc. Never immerse
the machine in fluids. Only use a soft, damp cloth to clean the machine.
Never use easily inflammable or combustible detergents in the vicinity of electrical tools and
machinery.
