1 INTRODUCTION

Thank you for purchasing the TQC impact tester. Your impact tester has been designed to meet high
quality standards. TQC impact testers are on the cutting edge of innovation, and are a part of a wide
range of high quality test products. The impact tester is designed to withstand heavy use, please note
that this is different from abuse. Therefore please read this manual carefully if necessary in conjunction
with the used standard.
Although this manual has been written with the greatest care there is always the possibility that
subsequent changes have not been included. Please always use common sense when reading this
document.

1.1 About the TQC Impact Tester

Impact test or rapid deformation tests are widely used to evaluate coating quality by determining its resistance to deformation,
hereby checking elasticity and adhesion. These both values determine coatings behaviour after rapid deformation. The energy
applied to the test panel is obtained by using the formula: Ep = m * g * h : Energy (in Nm or Joule) = mass * gravity * height.
The test is performed by placing a planar panel free of distortion onto a levelled die. Depending on the required method a punch is
either placed or dropped on the panel together with the impact weight. After impact the panel is removed and evaluated for the
amount of deformation. Depending on the used international or national standard the method of preparation and evaluation may
vary.

1.2 Complies with standards
