SECTION 1—GENERAL GUIDELINES SECTION 1—GENERAL GUIDELINES WARNING SECTION 1 - GENERAL GUIDELINES contains important information for the safe operation and use of this product. Important Information There are several adjustments available when the back is used on manual and power wheelchairs. Those adjustments include height, depth and angle. There is no angle or depth adjustment available when the back is used on Invacare Power Wheelchairs with Power Recline. The procedures in the installation section require a 3/16 Allen wrench. A 7/16 wrench is required is required if installing the back onto an Invacare Power Wheelchair with Power Recline. The back cushion is NOT designed for use in the treatment of pressure sores. The best way to avoid problems related to pressure sores is to understand their causes and your role in a skin management program. Your therapist and physician should be consulted if you have any questions regarding weight relief, self‐examination of skin, or individual limitations and needs. All seating systems should be selected carefully. Working with your therapist, physician and equipment supplier is the best way to assure that a seating system choice matches the individuals needs. As the needs of the individual become more complex, the InTouch PCS Positioning Back evaluation becomes more important. Seating Pressure Warning Skin condition should be checked frequently after the installation and use of any new seating system. -

SECTION 2—INSTALLATION Adjusting the Back Depth and/or Angle NOTE: These adjustments do not apply to Invacare Power Wheelchairs with Power Recline. NOTE: For this procedure, refer to FIGURE 2.7. On each side of the wheelchair, loosen but DO NOT remove the two socket head screws that secure the back shell mounting brackets and washer plates to the back cane mounting assemblies. Adjust the back to the desired depth and/or angle. Tighten the socket head screws securing the washer plates and back shell mounting brackets to the back cane mounting assemblies. NOTE: This view is from the right side of the wheelchair, right back cane and attaching hardware not shown for clarity. SECTION 2—INSTALLATION Installing the Back - Invacare Power Wheelchairs with Power Recline NOTE: This mounting system is fixed and does not allow for T-Slot in width, angle or depth adjustment. Back Cane NOTE: For this procedure, refer to FIGURE 2.8 and FIGURE 2.9. Place a flat washer onto two hex head screws. Insert a hex head screw into each mounting hole in the back cane mounting bracket. Back Cane Loosely attach the hex head screws and flat washers to Mounting Bracket the back cane mounting bracket with two t‐nuts. Repeat STEPS 1‐3 to attach the hardware to the opposite back cane mounting bracket. Align and insert the t‐nuts into the T‐slots in the back canes. Adjust the back to the desired position on the back canes. Hex Head Screws and Flat Washers Loosely tighten the hex head screws. -

SECTION 2—INSTALLATION Installing/Removing Lateral Supports and/or Pelvic Stabilizers NOTE: For this procedure, refer to FIGURE 2.10. NOTE: To remove the lateral supports or pelvic stabilizers, reverse this procedure. NOTE: If the InTouch PCS Positioning Back is used on a power wheelchair that has a MK6i™ connector tray attached to the back shell, it may be necessary to remove the two screws and hex nuts that attach connector tray to the back shell to gain access to the slots. Before removing the screws, make note of the orientation of the connector tray while it is still attached to the back shell. NOTE: The lateral supports and pelvic stabilizers can be installed at any position on the back shell that is best for the user and MUST ALWAYS be attached with two socket screws and flat washers. NOTE: A 7/16 wrench is required for this procedure. NOTE: The Lateral Support can be adjusted up or down in the upper slots in 1” increments. NOTE: The Pelvic Stabilizer can be adjusted up or down in the lower slots in 1” increments. Determine the desired position to attach the lateral or pelvic stabilizers on the back shell. Remove the two screws and hex nuts that attach the connector tray mounting brackets to the back shell. If the wiring is already in place, let the MK6i connector tray and brackets hang loosely from the wiring. For each pelvic stabilizer or lateral support, attach to the back shell with two socket head screws and washers. Attach the connector tray mounting brackets to the back shell with two screws and hex nuts. SECTION 3—MAINTENANCE SECTION 3—MAINTENANCE Installing/Removing the Back Cushion NOTE: For this procedure, refer to FIGURE 3.1. NOTE: To remove the back cushion, reverse this procedure. Separate the hook and loop material at the bottom of the back cushion and flip the large upholstery flap up and away from the back cushion. Put the back cushion face down on a flat, stable surface. Put the back face down onto the back cushion. Put the top of the back shell into the pocket at the top of the back cushion. Pull the bottom upholstery flap around the bottom of the back and fasten the hook material on the inside of the bottom upholstery flap (C) to the loop material on the bottom of the back shell (D). Fasten the hook material on the large upholstery flap (A) to the loop material on the bottom upholstery flap (B). NOTE: There are two strips of hook material on the back shell that hold the back cushion in place. Flip the back over and apply slight pressure to the back cushion to fasten the back cushion to the back shell. SECTION 3—MAINTENANCE Installing/Removing the Back Cushion Cover WARNING The back cushion cover is designed to protect the foam from moisture and to provide fire retar- dancy. DO NOT use the back cushion without the cushion cover. If the cover is torn, it MUST be replaced IMMEDIATELY. -

Invacare warrants its product to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of two years from date of purchase. Informations importantes Il existe plusieurs réglages disponibles lorsque ce dossier est installé sur des fauteuils roulants manuels et électriques. Ces réglages concernent la hauteur, la profondeur et l’angle. Il n’y a pas de réglage d’angle ou de profondeur lorsque le dossier est installé sur des fauteuils roulants électriques Invacare Power Wheelchair ou Power Recline. Les procédures décrites dans la section d’installation nécessitent une clé hexagonale 3/16. Le coussinet du dossier n’est PAS conçu pour être utilisé pour le traitement des escarres. La meilleure façon d’éviter les problèmes d’escarres est de comprendre leurs causes, ainsi que votre rôle concernant un programme de protection de la peau. Il est recommandé de consulter votre thérapeute ou médecin en cas de questions sur les moyens de réduire la pression, l’auto‐ examen de la peau, ou les limitations et besions individuels. SECTION 2—INSTALLATION Installation/démontage des supports latéraux et/ou des stabilisateurs de bassin REMARQUE: Pour cette procédure, se référer à la FIGURE 2.10. REMARQUE: pour retirer les supports latéraux ou les stabilisateurs de bassin, inverser cette procédure. REMARQUE: si le dossier de positionnement InTouch PCS est installé sur un fauteuil électrique qui possède un porte‐fiches MK6i™ fixé à la coquille du dossier, il pourrait être nécessaire de retirer les deux vis et écrous hexagonaux qui retiennent le porte‐fiches à la coquille du dossier pour accéder aux fentes. Avant de retirer les vis, noter lʹorientation du porte‐fiches lorsquʹil est encore fixé à la coquille. REMARQUE: les supports latéraux et stabilisateurs de bassin peuvent sʹinstaller en toute position sur la coquille du dossier pour mieux sʹadapter à lʹutilisateur et DOIVENT TOUJOURS être retenus par deux vis à tête creuse avec rondelles. REMARQUE: une clé 7/16 est nécessaire pour cette procédure. REMARQUE: le support latéral peut être élevé ou abaissé dans les fentes du haut tous les 2,5 cm. REMARQUE: le stabilisateur de bassin peut être élevé ou abaissé dans les fentes du haut tous les 2,5 cm. Déterminer la position souhaitée pour attacher les supports latéraux ou les stabilisateurs de bassin à la coquille du dossier. Retirer les deux vis et écrous hexagonaux qui retiennent le support de fixation du porte‐fiches à la coquille. Si le câblage est déjà prêt, laisser pendre le porte‐fiches MK6i et le support de fixation au câblage. Pour chaque stabilisateur de bassin ou support latéral, fixer à la coquille de dossier avec deux vis à tête creuse et rondelles. Attacher les supports de fixation du porte‐fiches à la coquille de dossier avec deux vis et écrous hexagonaux. SECTION 3—ENTRETIEN SECTION 3—ENTRETIEN Installation/démontage du coussinet du dossier REMARQUE: Pour cette procédure, se référer à la FIGURE 3.1. REMARQUE: pour retirer le coussinet du dossier, inverser cette procédure. Séparer le crochet de la bride au bas du coussinet et tirer le gros rabat en tissu vers le haut et en lʹéloignant du coussinet. Poser le coussinet sur une surface stable (à lʹenvers). Poser le dossier sur le coussinet (côté endroit touchant le coussinet). Insérer le haut de la coquille du dossier dans la poche en haut du coussinet. Tirer le rabat en tissu du bas sous le bas du dossier et attacher le crochet à lʹintérieur du bas du rabat en tissu (C) à la bride du bas de la coquille (D). Attacher la bride du gros rabat en tissu (A) à la bride en bas du rabat en tissu (B). REMARQUE: il y a deux bandes de brides sur la coquille du dossier qui maintiennent le coussinet en place. Retourner le dossier et appuyer légèrement sur le coussinet pour attacher le coussinet à la coquille.
