Description of functions

The pond water is channelled past two UV-C compact lamps through a special water-tight
casing in a thin stream. A water control system and the resulting improved flow of water en-
sure optimized efficiency. Special retaining burls on the inner lining ensure optimum support
of the UV-C permeable quartz glasses, even at higher pumping levels. The UV-C radiation
penetrates the water flowing through and reliably kills algae cells, bacteria, fungal spores
and the mobile stages of single-celled parasitic animals and contributes to the inactivation
of viruses. This leads to the successful elimination of cloudiness caused by bacteria and float-
ing algae. The spread of stubborn algae, such as blanket weed, can also be reduced, as their
spores are largely destroyed. As the water treatment with UV-C radiation reduces the level
of germs in the water, it also improves the health of the fish, thereby decreasing the risk of
infection. The appliance uses the physical principle of radiation which causes absolutely no
changes to the water values and has no negative effect on the cleansing bacteria in the filter
which are vital for the breakdown of pollutants.
The 72 W and 110 W JBL AquaCristal UV-C Water Clarifiers can be operated at pressure lev-
els up to 0.5 bar. Accordingly, the appliance may not be operated with pumps which produce
more than 0.5 bar pressure or are connected directly to the water mains.

Special features

Integrated adjustable turbo bypass
An adjustable bypass valve integrated into the chambers containing the fluorescent
bulbs prevents reductions in the output of the pumps required for operation.
Efficient electronic ballasts
Virtually loss-free electronic ballasts are used to operate the UV-C fluorescent bulbs.
Viewing window for function control of the UV-C bulbs
There are two viewing windows in the casing wall through which the visible part
of the light emitted by the UV-C bulbs appears, thereby making it easy to check
functioning of the fluorescent bulbs.
