Rechargeable batteries

TIP
To load the rechargeable batteries of your Car System Digital 3.0
vehicles, only use the Processor-controlled charging unit (Art.
161349), the charging procedure being particularly quick using that
device.
Nickel metal hydride rechargeable battery (NiMH rechargeable battery)
NiMH rechargeable batteries have been built into most of the vehicles of
FALLER Car System. They are very sturdy, can be recharged very quickly, and
are available in many different sizes. The rechargeable batteries used con-
sist of a combination of 1.2 V cells. Small cars feature one such cell, busses
and lorries have two of them.
Service life
All rechargeable batteries unfortunately have a property in common: their
service life is limited. The service life of rechargeable batteries is measured
using the number of charging cycles, that is, the total number of charging
procedures that are possible.
Deep discharge (of NiMH rechargeable batteries)
Rechargeable batteries are prone to self discharge in the course of time.
This means that they lose part of their capacity even if the vehicle is not
switched on at all. At worst a rechargeable battery may even be subject to
