Tuner

This instrument features a built-in auto-chromat-
ic tuner, with a reference pitch of 440Hz.

Tuning procedure

1. With the power turned on, press both the
WRITE button and FX/CANCEL button to-
gether to start the auto-chromatic tuner. The
WRITE LED and FX/CANCEL LED will both
light, and the output will be muted.
2. The note name closest to that of the string
you play appears in the display.
3. If the pitch is sharp, the WRITE LED will
light, and if the pitch is flat, the FX/CANCEL
LED will light. In either case, the closer the
LED is to red, the farther off the tuning is.
When the tuning is correct, both LEDs will
light up green.
4. Turning the group selector or pressing the
FX/CANCEL button will cancel the mute, and
the instrument will function normally.

Setting up your guitar

Replacing the strings
The bridge on your Giulietta arched top guitar
is not fastened to the guitar top, but is set in
the correct position at the factory and held in
place by string tension. When restringing, don't
remove all the strings at once. Changing one
string at a time will allow the bridge to remain in
the correct position. The initial bridge position is
as shown in the drawing.

TIP Perform this step carefully, a little at a time.
Take the guitar to a repair shop if you're not
comfortable making this adjustment.
Adjusting the string height
To raise or lower the string height, turn the
bridge saddle adjustment screws to the desired
height. The string height also affects the playing
feel. If you've changed the the string height,
you may need to adjust the intonation of the
octaves.
Removing and attaching
the VOX string mute
While slightly pulling the first string and the sixth
string inwards with your thumb and forefinger
on one hand, use the other hand to slowly slide
the string mute toward the first or sixth string,
and then remove it.
Follow these steps in reverse to put the
string mute back onto the strings.
Adjusting the neck relief
First, with your guitar tuned correctly, press
down the sixth string at the 1st fret and at the
last fret. Then check whether there is a gap be-
tween the top of the 8th fret and the 6th string.
Ideally, this gap should be about the thickness
of the first string.
If the gap is larger than this, the neck has too
much relief. Using the included wrench, turn
the truss rod slightly in the clockwise direction,
tightening the truss rod to decrease the gap.
Conversely if the gap is too small, or if the 6th
string touches the 8th fret, turn the truss rod
slightly counter-clockwise.
TIP Perform this step carefully, a little at a time.
Take the guitar to a repair shop if you're not
comfortable making this adjustment.
Bridge

Caring for your guitar

When you finish playing, wipe the entire guitar
with a clean, soft, dry cloth.
Take care not to expose the guitar to
extreme temperature changes, such as
leaving it in a hot automobile for an extend-
ed period of time. Doing so may damage
the finish.
