The dimensions of the hooks in new
condition are:
a
h
Compare the throat opening; the hook thickness and the hook width of the
carry and the load hook with the corresponding values when purchase and
make sure the values are not higher or lower than the limits (see Technical
Data on page 28). Use callipers to measure the values.
If the load chain slips down it might be due to
elongation or abrasion of the chain. Check the
dimensions of all chain links.
Have the ratchet hoist inspected at least once a year
by a competent person. A competent person is
someone, who has professional training, experience
and actual operation to provide the necessary expertise for the inspection of
material handling equipment. Maintenance and inspection should only be
carried out by qualified personnel.
In adverse operating conditions the inspection periods should be performed in
shorter intervals. Please also mind the inspection intervals on page 25.
After repair work or maintenance check the ratchet hoist frequently by
operating it with and without load. Check if the load stops at various positions
and is held securely in position. If the load moves or slips the ratchet hoist
should be taken out of service and must be repaired. Also listen for unusual
sounds which may indicate trouble.
Never repair or maintain the ratchet hoist while it is loaded.
Do not use the ratchet hoist if one of the following defects is found on the unit
itself or on the load chain: breaks, deformation, flaws, grooves, cracks, strong
corrosion, heating over the admissible temperature allowed, welding beads
etc.
