• Calibrated dose meter

Procedure

From the previous Beam Quality test, make a note of the kVp and HVL (Half Value Layer) val-
ues .

Select the appropriate chart from the "Mammography Quality Control Manual" (ACR, 1999)
Medical Physicist Section pg 281-283, based upon target and filtration used in the Table MP-3
(Beam Quality) . This chart will be used to enter the table value on the Table MP-5 (Average
Glandular Dose) .

Position the RMI phantom in the center of the breast support table at the edge of the chest
wall . The phantom should cover the cells used for AEC .

Place the detector of the dose meter on the breast support table next to the RMI phantom . It
should be 4cm from the chest wall and not over the cells used for AEC .
