4. Pull out the leading edge of the paper, and close the cover.
5. The printer automatically feeds paper to remove slack.
6. After feeding stops, tear off the excess paper with the
manual cutter.

Installing an Ink Cartridge

CAUTION: Do not disassemble the cartridge.
Do not refill the cartridge.
Do not store in areas subject to high or low temperature.
Keep ink cartridges out of reach of children.
Do not swallow the ink.
Note: Keep the cartridge in its package until you install it.
Cartridges are good for 6 months after unpacking.
The cartridge and its box contain the expiration date.
Removing and reinstalling a cartridge low in ink may cause
print-quality problems.
Only remove cartridge(s) if you need to ship the printer.
Do not puncture the convex part of a new cartridge, and do not
remove the transparent film on the bottom of the cartridge.
Touching the convex part of a used cartridge may stain you.
Do not open the ink cartridge cover during printing.
Use only EPSON ink cartridges; otherwise, printer
performance is not guaranteed.
Dispose of used cartridges as industrial waste. Follow all
applicable laws and regulations.
The TM-J9000 has only a single cartridge. The TM-J9100
has two cartridges, black and another color.The

4. Remove the empty ink cartridge, taking care not to touch
the ink supply needle in the cartridge holder.

CAUTION: Do not remove tape containing the EPSON logo.
6. Insert the cartridge from the top, pushing gently but firmly
until it clicks into place. See the illustration below.

Inserting a Photo ID Card

Note: Scanner cannot be used when DIP switch 2 is set to the right.
Do not insert anything other than an ID card into the printer slot.
Card must be flat, not bent, cracked, or embossed.
Do not touch the terminals while inserting the card.
Do not open covers while the card is scanning.
1. Send a card scanning command to the printer. (See the
Specification or Technical Reference Guide.)
2. Verify that the
ID
printer is waiting for a card to be inserted.
3. Insert the card straight into the slot, as shown below, with
the scanning side of the card facing the carriage cover.
4. The printer starts pulling in the card; immediately release it.
5. The printer scans and ejects the card at the same time. Do
not touch the card during scanning.
6. Verify that the
ID
has been fully scanned and is waiting for removal.
7. Pull the card straight out.
