Bleeding the Fuel System

A com pletely bled fuel system is
im perative fo r perfect engine
operation. During operation, the
system is continuously bled yia the
overflow line.
The entire system m ust be bled when
the car has been driven until the fuel
tank was com pletely em ptied.
C h e ckin g Fuels
C oo la nts
A fter refueling, start the engine,
engaging the sta rter fo r about 20
seconds until all the tra p pe d air has
been evacuated.
W ith a poorly charged battery the
system m ust be bled m anually.
O perate the p rim e r pum p until the
injection pu m p overflow valve opens
(rattling noise audible).
Disengage p rim e r pum p handle prio r
to operating it (turn c o u n te rc lo ck ­
wise). R etighten after use.
Engine Oil Level Check
Check engine oil level at regular
intervals, e. g. after refueling, with the
engine at o p erating tem p e ra tu re and
shut off.

Pour in engine oil
The vehicle should be parked on level
ground and the oil level m ust be
som ew here between the lower and
the u pper m ark on d ip stick (1); do not
replenish in excess of the upper mark.
