Use of the HPP-432 with multi mode radios:
The following procedure is recommended and guarantees that
you will never damage our preamplifer by inadvertinely
transmitting into its back end. We recommend that a foot switch
be employed to key the BEKO linear amplifier via the PTT input
phono jack located on the back panel of the linear amplifier. use
the "Aux" jack which provides a sequenced ground on transmit
to key your radio.
Powering your preamplifer
There are two ways to power your preamplifier:
1. Via the coaxial cable
2. Via a separate shielded cable connected to the SO239 jack.
Wire +13.8 VDC to the center pin wire ground to the connector
shell
HLV-550, -770, -1100 and -1470 Instructions:
These HLVs can provide the necessary voltage to power the
HPP-432 via the coax cable. In order to do so, you must wire
PIN 4 to Pin 2 located in the DIN control plug. To avoid a DC
voltage drop caused by resistance of the antenna cable used,
select an appropriate cable size especially at distances >100 ft.
or >30 meters.
When using external feed the necessary sequenced + 15 VDC
voltage can be obtained on PIN 4 of the DIN Control Plug.
