troller (
chapter 6.1).
4) To activate or deactivate the light beam, press the
button STAND BY (15) on the remote controller. At
the same time, the mirror goes to its starting posi-
tion with the light beam deactivated. The LED of the
button STAND BY lights up as an indication.
5) Press the button MODE (17) on the remote con-
troller to select the operating mode:
1. If the LED of the button MODE does not light up,
keep the button FUNCTION (16) on the remote
controller pressed to activate one of the three
stroboscope functions:
– stroboscope without gobo (white)
– intermittent stroboscope (salvoes) with change
of gobos
– music-controlled stroboscope with change of
gobos
Each time you keep the button FUNCTION
pressed again, the next stroboscope function is
activated. If you do not press the button FUNC-
TION, a program with music-controlled mirror
movements and change of gobos will start.
2. When the LED of the button MODE lights up,
press the button FUNCTION to select one of
several programs with music-controlled mirror
movements and change of gobos.
3. When the LED of the button MODE starts flash-
ing, press the button FUNCTION to select a cer-
tain gobo. The mirror movements are music-
controlled.
7 Operation via a Light Controller
For operation via a light controller with DMX512 proto-
col (e. g. DMX-1440 or DMX-510USB from "img Stage
Line"), the SCAN-22LED is equipped with five DMX
control channels. For the functions of the channels and
the DMX values see chapter 10.1.
7.1 Connection
As a DMX interface, the unit is provided with 3-pole
XLR jacks of the following pin configuration:
Pin 1 = ground, 2 = DMX-, 3 = DMX+
For connection, special cables for high data flow are
recommended. Standard microphone cables with
screening and a minimum cross section of 2 × 0.22 mm
and with a capacity as low as possible can only be rec-
ommended for a total cable length of up to 100 m. For
cable lengths exceeding 150 m, it is generally recom-
mended to insert a DMX level matching amplifier (e. g.
SR-103DMX from "img Stage Line").
1) Connect the DMX input (11) to the DMX output of
the light controller.
2) Connect the DMX output (12) to the DMX input of
the following light effect unit; connect its output
again to the input of the following unit, etc. until all
light effect units have been connected in a chain.
10
3) To prevent interference in signal transmission (in
case of long cables or a multitude of units con-
nected in series), terminate the DMX output of the
last DMX unit in the chain with a 120 Ω resistor
(> 0.3 W): Connect a corresponding terminating
plug (e. g. DLT-123 from "img Stage Line") to the
output jack.
7.2 Setting the DMX start address
For controlling the SCAN-22LED with a light controller,
it is necessary to set the DMX start address for the first
DMX channel. If e. g. address 6 on the controller is pro-
vided for panning the mirror, set the start address 6 on
the SCAN-22LED. The other functions of the SCAN-
22LED are automatically assigned to the following
addresses (in this example 7 – 10). In this example, the
next possible start address for the following DMX-con-
trolled unit would be address 11.
Use the DIP switches No. 1 – 9 (4) to set the start
address as a binary number. The start address is the
sum of the position values of the DIP switches set to
"ON", e. g.

As soon as the control signals of the DMX controller are
received, the green LED (5) starts flashing. Now the
SCAN-22LED can be operated with the DMX controller.
To activate the light beam, set DMX channel 5 for
the dimmer to bright and set DMX channel 3 for the
stroboscope function to a DMX value greater than 7.
8 Focussing the Patterns
Turn the lens to focus the patterns projected. The
focus setting depends on the distance of the unit to the
projection surface.

9 Cleaning the Unit

Clean the mirror and the other optical components at
regular intervals, depending on impurities caused by
dust, smoke or other dirt particles. Only this will ensure
that light is emitted at maximum brightness.
For cleaning the mirror and the lens, it is not neces-
sary to open the unit. It is possible to completely
unscrew the lens to clean its inner surface.
Before you open the unit, always disconnect the
mains plug from the socket and let the unit cool
