    • YOU UNDERSTAND the recommended user weight limit for your chair. It will be dependent on the Repose chair model that you have chosen. Please ensure that you understand these limits and DO NOT exceed them. This may damage the chair and will invalidate your warranty.

    Maximum storage time is 12 months. • ONLY use a dry cloth to clean. • Damaged batteries must be disposed of immediately and in line with environmental regulations. Repose always recommend that a qualified chair engineer carries out any checks.

    Basic Technical Checks (Electric model only) If the chair stops working then there are some simple checks that you might carry out. • CHECK the battery still has a charge – if you have heard the audible beep then the battery will need recharging.

    Weight Limits The Boston comes as standard with an overall weight limit of 159 kg (25 stone) and with a maximum leg rest weight limit of 57 kg (9 stone).

    Obstructions may cause damage to the chair and its mechanism and will Important note – invalidate your warranty. 4 lockable castors The Boston comes with 4 heavy duty lockable castors designed to glide easily over low profile carpets, wooden and vinyl flooring. ALWAYS LOCK THE CASTORS when the chair is stationary, for making transfers or for making changes to the chair set-up.
  • Page 12 Portering The Boston is extremely easy to manoeuvre by using either the push handle or the unique wing handles. Push handle Wing handles Using the Wing Handles the user can be moved easily whilst the chair is in a reclined position.
  • Page 13 Handset instructions (Electric Model only) The Boston electric Tilt in Space (TIS) mechanism comes with the following six button handset. The handset operates the TIS, the independent backrest recline and leg rest elevation. The following instructions will aid easy use of your chair.
  • Page 14 Push Handle Lever and Controls (Manual Model only) On the manual model the push handle has two levers which are highlighted on the image. The lever on the right (1) operates the Tilt in Space. The lever on the left (2) operates the independent back recline.
  • Page 15 Independent Backrest Recline adjustment The backrest can be independently reclined to open up the angle between the backrest and the seat, providing additional positions for comfort, support and pressure management. The angle range is 108° to 165°. Manual Model The lever on the left-hand side (2) of the push handle reclines the backrest independently of the leg rest and tilt position.
  • Page 16 Independent Leg Rest adjustment The long profile leg rest is specifically designed to support positioning of the legs. The gentle profile shaping, supports the legs, prevents them from slipping from the leg rest and reduces the risks associated with individuals crossing their legs. The leg rest angle can be changed independently of the backrest movement allowing the leg rest to be altered to the required angle for the user’s comfort.
  • Page 17 Height and Angle Footplate adjustments An optional height and angle adjustable footplate provides a range of support positions. The footplate can also be removed or flipped up to allow uninterrupted access with a hoist from the front or obliquely. Height adjustment and range To adjust the position of the footplate, pull the locking pin on the footplate frame (as indicated right), this will release the footplate and allow you to change the height.

  • Page 19 Wedge Adjustment Blockers The Boston comes with the option of additional wedge adjustment blockers which are available across all our back-cushion range. The blockers fit behind the cushions allowing the carer to change the level of support and adapt the back for a user’s changing needs.

    Back and Seat Cushion Adaptability The Boston comes with a range of different seat and back cushion options to allow the chair to be tailored to the user’s individual comfort, postural and pressure management requirements. They are interchangeable enabling the chair to be adapted to different users or to take account of changes in a user’s condition over time.

Purchase one or more cushions to support the different needs of individuals who may use this chair. With all these seat cushions, we recommend a fabric with four way stretch properties to aid the reduction of friction and sheer.
