eee. This is what they are:
A Recording Level/Volume Control. This is used when recording
sound, to control the Quality of recording and to control the
Volume when playing back.
B On-Off Mains Switch. Volume Control (when recording, for
TK20 loudspeaker), Tone Control (when playing back), Speaker
On-Off Switch (push-pull).
C The Selector Switch. This Control selects any of these functions:
+ Fast Wind Backwards. This position enables you to move the tape
at a fast speed backwards.
O (red) Stop.
= Playback and Recording. For recording, the corresponding Input
Selector Button (D) has to be depressed whilst moving the
Selector Switch from O to ».
e (red) Temporary Stop. It stops the machine recording or playing
back until it is switched back to position ™.
— Fast Wind Forwards. This control enables you to move the tape at
a fast speed forwards.
Watch this! With the TK20 switched off the Selector Switch
should always be in position O.
D The Input Selector Buttons. The three press buttons enable you
to select any oneofthe three different types of inputs.
Q Microphone.

Output. The Input Selector Buttons do not work on playback.
E The Magic Eye. This is the Recording Level Indicator. By
watching it you can tell whether or not you are making a good
recording.
F Position Indicator. This Indicator enables youto find the begin-
ning of any particular recording straight away.
While putting on a new tape, adjust by means of the knurled
disc (G) Position Indicator to zero (000).
G Zero Adjustment, for Position Indicator.
Hi The Sound Channel. The tape is slipped into this. It contains
the two heads which actually record and reproduce the sound
or erase previous recordings.
I These are spindles on which the Tape Spoolsfit.

Now you are ready to
record your voice
here is what you do....
TO RECORD
! Plug in (and makesure that the Mains Switch is on).
2 Turn R.H. knurled knob (B) clockwise until it clicks.
3 Watch Magic Eye (E) light up.
4 Press Input Selector Button Q (Microphone) and hold it
down.
5 Adjust Recording Level Control (A) until the two halves of
green light in the Magic Eye flutter freely when you speak into
the Microphone. The two illuminated sectors should just meet at
the loudest passages, but must NOT overlap.
6 Turn Selector Switch (C) to position ™ whilst still keeping
button Q down. This will now remain locked of its own accord
and the tape will start to unwind from the left-hand spool onto
the right-hand spool.
7 Speak into the Microphone and whatever you say will be
recorded.
TO REWIND THE TAPE
1 Set the Selector Switch (C) to « and your tape will run back
at speedto its original position on the left-hand spool.
2 To stop the rewind move the Selector Switch (C) to position O
and the tape will stop.
TO PLAY BACK
Now movetheSelector Switch to position » and yourrecord-
ing will play back.
