BEFORE YOU PLUG IN.....--DO THESE THINGS....
Your tape recorder left the factory set for operation
on 240 volts AC.
Before you plug in check with Your Grundig Dealer
that your local electricity supply is within this range (230-250
volts). Ifit is not, ask him to adjust the tape recorder. It isa
simple operation.*
>
Take out the mainsleadfrom the hinged flap underneath
the TK20 and fit (or have fitted) a plug suitable for the
sockets you have in your home. Please don't push the bare
wires into a socket. It isn't safe and it rarely gives you a
good connection.
*k
Assemble the Grundig Condenser Microphone. This
is very easy. The base plugs (lightly) onto the microphone
itself (bayonet plug) and the lead from it goes into the
socket marked Q in the back panel of the TK20. It will only
fit home one way. Thereis a little guide ridge on the plug
which engages in a depression in the socket.
*k
Threadthe tape. Twospools are supplied with your TK20,
one full of tape, the other empty. The full spool fits on the
left hand spindle, the empty oneontheright.
Holdthe full spool in your handso that the loose end of the

tape hangs down ontheleft side of the spool. Now drop the
spool onto the left-hand spindle, turn it a little until it falls
into place andis held securely by the ridges on the spindle.
Now fit the empty spool onto the right-hand spindle in the
same way.
The tape has now to be fastened to the empty spool. Thisis
very simple. Makesure thatit isn't twisted, drop it into the
sound channel, pass it between the flanges of the spool and
slip the end into the slot leaving a couple of inchesfree.
Now turn the empty spool anti-clockwise (keeping your
finger on the end of the tape) until all the metallised strip
on the tape is fully wound round the hubofthe spool.
