NOTE

The RS232 interface is active only when the DIGSI cable is connected to the X1 socket (see
a mode is set to use the RS232 interface. Otherwise, the RS232 interface is not active.
Extended Mode
Data Transfer in Extended Mode:
The mini star coupler functions transparently in full-duplex operation. Incoming data from a maximum of
2 masters is forwarded from the receivers for the fiber-optic channels 1 and 2 or from the RS232 interface,
and the recipient for the fiber-optic channel 2 to the transmitters for the fiber-optic channels 3, 4, and 5. Data
from one of the receivers for fiber-optic channels 3, 4, and 5 are output to the transmitter for the master chan-
nels. The incoming data for the master channel receivers are also transmitted to the 2nd master. The optical
interfaces use positive logic (non-flickering light: OFF), that is, incoming light is perceived as an active signal.
For adaptation to systems that use negative logic, a switch is integrated. You can use the switch to change
every channel to negative logic (light in idle state). In the process, the optical input and the optical output of
these interfaces are inverted at the same time. To prevent the mini star coupler from being blocked by a nega-
tive logic, the receive channel requires light in the idle state.

DIP Switch S1 in Extended Mode, Mini Star Coupler 7XV5450-0BA00/DD
Meaning
S1/2
Off
Cascading for Star Topology, RS232 = Off
Note: This interface remains RS232 = Off in this DIP switch position, even if
you connect a DIGSI cable to the X1 socket.
On
Cascading for Star Topology, RS232 = On
Cascading for ring topology, RS232 = On
Data transfer is the same in both cases (see
Transfer).
Off
External master redundancy in a star topology (see
Master 1 = using the RS232 interface
Master 2 = using fiber-optic channel 2
The fiber-optic channel 1, and fiber-optic channels 3 to 5 are slaves.
On
External master redundancy in star topology (see
The RS232 interface becomes an additional slave.
Master 1 = using fiber-optic channel 1
Master 2 = using fiber-optic channel 2
The RS232 interface and fiber-optic channels 3 to 5 are slaves.

Compatibility mode
On
Extended mode
Off
Signal delay = Off (can be used for time synchronization)
On
