Appendix 1: WLToys V303 Supplemental Information v18
a. There have been problem with the batteries not making contact when you turn the TX on. To fix, use a
thin knife blade or piece of metal to reform (or bend) the flat plates a little which normally contact the +
side of the AA battery, or
b. Report problem to your distributor and wait for a new transmitter, while watching your seeker gather
dust.
4. Put the charged battery into the battery compartment. Do not connect to power .. yet
5. Turn on TX
6. Connect battery to Seeker power leads
7. You should now see a brief light show as the Flight Controller get initialized (Red/Yellow flashing)
8. When you get to Red/Green flashing (trying to get 6 GPS satellites) or Green flashing (Got >6 satellites) you are
good.
9. You are now ready to arm the rotors
10. ARM Rotors: Read "Getting Started" #6 but ... before you push sticks to ARM position, you must first move
Throttle Stick straight down to bottom, then move left stick to lower left, and right stick to lower right at the
same time.
a. All rotors should be spinning.. but it is hard to tell without props on
i. With both sticks at center position no rotor should be stopped
ii. Push right stick to top (Mode 2) for a moment and you should see at least 2 rotors stop
iii. Push same stick to bottom (Mode 2) for a moment and you should see some more stop
iv. Do the same thing with the right stick to the left and right.
v. You should feel at this point that all rotors are work, through a process of elimination.. if one
rotor always looked like it was NOT spinning you have a problem and should report such to the
distributor or go to step 14 and then return to this step.
b. Now disarm motors.. Remember throttle down first and then move both together to extreme bottom
and furthest left and right.
11. Calibration of Accelerometers and Gyros (Critical). Doing this has fixed some real weird stability problems. Do
this anywhere, but on a level surface.

12. Calibration of Compass (Critical) using "Getting Started" #12. This must be done away from metal and power
and should be done outside away from any building and radio/cell towers.

b. On newer Firmware when dancing with the Quad in the vertical position the LED might be red rather
than green. Nothing is wrong, proceed insuring the LED doesn't go out.
13. Calibration of Transmitter using "Getting Started" #11 can easily be done inside your home / building.

b. There is an alternate way via a USB connection to your computer if you have problem doing it with #11
14. OPTIONAL STEP: Since there have been numerous reports related to problems with the internals a precautionary
measure prior to flight is to open the V303. While this will likely void the warrantee ... I'm not sure it has a
warrantee to void. Remove 4 legs (2 screws each) with wrench, all other screws are removed with Phillips
screwdriver, remove 2 screws 1 on right and 1 on the left edge of quad body, then remove only the screws on
the arms that are Phillips screws (5 per arm). Here's what to look for based on what others have discovered:
a. Check all visible cables in area of Flight Controller (FC) to make sure they are plugged in.
b. If you find a connector on the power distribution board (power to the FC) covered in silicon and
appearing to be bent scrape off the silicon and inspect for a loose connection.
