Problem
No sound
Distortion
Microphone sound
becomes increasingly
dull.
Possible cause
Power to mixer and/or
amplifier is off.
Channel or master fader
on mixer, or volume
control on amplifier is at
zero.
Microphone is not
connected to mixer or
amplifier.
Cable connectors are
seated loosely.
Cable is defective.
No supply voltage.
Batteries dead/no
batteries inserted.
Gain control on mixer
set too high.
Mixer input sensitivity
too high.
Internal or external
windscreen attenuates
high frequencies when
soiled.
Remedy
Switch power to mixer
and/or amplifier on
Set channel or master
fader on mixer or
volume control on
amplifier to desired
level.
Connect microphone to
mixer or amplifier.
Check cable connectors
for secure seating.
Check cable and replace
if damaged.
Switch phantom power
on. Check cable and
replace if damaged.
Check/insert batteries.
Turn gain control down.
Connect a 10-dB
attenuation pad between
microphone cable and
input.
Clean internal or
external windscreen.
