No pan/unsuitable pan display
The  symbol flashes alternately with
the power level selected in one of the
cooking zone displays
– if the cooking zone has been
switched on without a pan in place,
or if the pan is unsuitable (non-
magnetic base)
– if the diameter of the base of the pan
is too small
– if the pan is taken off the cooking
zone when it is switched on
If a suitable pan is placed on the
cooking zone within 3 minutes,  will go
out and you can continue as normal.
If no pan or an unsuitable pan is placed
on the cooking zone, the cooking zone

Tips
– To make optimum use of the cooking
zones, choose pans with a suitable
base diameter (see "Overview –
Cooking zones"). If the pan is too
small it will not be recognised.
– Use only pans with smooth bases.
Rough pan bases can scratch the
ceramic glass.
– Always lift pans to move them. This
will help prevent scratching. If any
scratches do appear as a result of
pans being pushed around, this will
not affect the function of the hob.
These scratches are normal signs of
use and are not grounds for making a
complaint.
– Please note that the maximum
diameter quoted by manufacturers
often refers to the diameter of the top
rim of the pan. The diameter of the
base (generally smaller) is more
important.
– Where possible, use pans with
vertically straight sides. If a pan has
angular sides, induction also acts on
the sides of the pan. The sides of the
pan may discolour or the coating
may peel off.
