Cruise Control

Any given speed above a range of
approxim ately 16— 40 k m /h /
10— 25 mph, depending on model,
can be m aintained with the cruise
control by operating the switch.
1 = Setting (touch switch)
A ccelerating (hold switch)
2 = Setting (touch switch)
Decelerating (hold switch)
Norm ally the vehicle is a cceler­
ated to the desired speed with the
accelerator. Speed is set by briefly
pushing the switch to position " 1"
or " 2" , and the accelerator can be
released. The speed can be in­
creased (e. g. fo r passing) by using
the accelerator. As soon as the
a ccelerator is released, the pre­
viously set speed will be resum ed
autom atically.
If the set speed is to be increased

or decreased slightly (e.g. fo r
adaptation to the flow of traffic),
hold switch in position " 1 " o r " 2"
until the desired speed is reached.
When the switch is released, the
newly set speed rem ains con­
stant.
= C ancelling
To cancel the cruise control,
b riefly push lever to position " 3" .
The cruise control will also be
cancelled if the brake pedal is
actuated or if the vehicle speed
dro ps on steep grades by m ore
than 20 % below the set speed.
4 = Resume
If the lever is briefly pushed to po­
sition " 4" when driving at a speed
exceeding approxim ately
16— 40 k m /h /1 0 — 25 mph, de­
pending on model, that speed is
resum ed w hich was set p rio r to
the cancellation of th e c ru is e con­
trol. The last m em orized speed is
cancelled when the key in the
steering lock is turned to position
" 1" or " 0" .
Im portant:
Please do not use the cruise control if
tra ffic co ndition s do not m ake it advis­
able to m aintain a steady speed,
i.e. in heavy tra ffic or on tw isting or
slick and m uddy roads.
Position " Resu m e" should beengaged
only if the drive r is fully aware of the
previously set speed and wishes to re­
sum e this particu la r preset speed.
W hen d riving with the cruise control,
the selector lever must not be shifted
to position " N" as otherwise the engine
will overrev.
