  • Page 8 RULES FOR SAFE OPERATION KICKBACK SPECIFICS WARNING: Kickback can lead to dangerous loss of control of the chain saw and result in serious or fatal injury to the saw operator or to anyone standing close by. Always be alert. Rotational kickback and pinch-kickback are major chain saw operational dangers and the leading cause of most accidents.

    OIL AND FUEL MIXING INSTRUCTIONS Old and/or improperly mixed fuel are the main reasons for the unit not running properly. Be sure to use fresh, clean unleaded fuel. Follow the instructions carefully for the proper fuel/oil mixture. Definition of Blended Fuels Today's fuels are often a blend of gasoline and oxygenates such as ethanol, methanol, or MTBE (ether).

    STARTING/STOPPING INSTRUCTIONS WARNING: Operate this unit only in a well- ventilated outdoor area. Carbon monoxide exhaust fumes can be lethal in a confined area.     FELLING Felling is the term for cutting down a tree. Small trees up to 6-7 inches (15-18cm) in diameter are usually cut in a single cut. Larger trees require notch cuts. Notch cuts determine the direction the tree will fall. WARNING: and cleared as necessary before cuts are started.
  • Page 13 Fig. 15 LIMBING Limbing a tree is the process of removing the branches from a fallen tree. Do not remove supporting limbs (A) until after the log is bucked (cut) into lengths (Fig. 16). Branches under tension should be cut from the bottom up to avoid binding the chain saw.

    MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE Perform these required maintenance procedures at the frequency stated in the table. These procedures should also be a part of any seasonal tune-up. NOTE: Some maintenance procedures may require special tools or skills. If you are unsure about these procedures take your unit to any non-road engine repair establishment, individual or authorized service dealer.

Proper tension of saw chain is extremely important and must be checked before starting, as well as during any cutting operation. Taking the time to make needed adjustments to the saw chain will result in improved cutting performance and prolonged chain life.

Unless the storage instructions are followed, fuel remaining in the carburetor will evaporate, leaving gum-like deposits. This could lead to difficult starting and result in costly repairs.
  • Page 20 MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS GUIDE BAR MAINTENANCE: Most guide bar problems can be prevented merely by keeping the chain saw well maintained. Insufficient guide bar lubrication and operating the saw with chain that is too tight will contribute to rapid bar wear. To help minimize bar wear, the following guide bar maintenance procedures are recommended.

    INSTRUCCIONES DE OPERACION TALADO Talado es el termino que se da al cortar un árbol. Arboles pequeños hasta de 15-18cm (6-7 pulgadas) de diámetro son generalmente cortados en un solo corte. Arboles más grandes requieren de cortes de ranura. Cortes de ranura determinan la dirección en que el árbol caerá.

No remueva las ramas de soporte (A) hasta que que el tronco es aserrado (cortado) en piezas (Fig. 16). Las ramas bajo tensón deberán ser cortadas desde abajo para evitar el doblado de la sierra-de-cadena.
