23.2 Clearing the Combustion Chamber

WARNING
To reduce the risk of fire and burn injury, use only spark
plugs authorized by STIHL. Always press the spark plug
boot snugly onto the spark plug terminal.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of fire, always move the Master Control
Lever to position
and hold it in this position before pulling
the starter grip if the spark plug boot has been removed.
If you believe the engine is flooded, you must clear the
combustion chamber before you can start the saw. To clear
the combustion chamber:
► Shut off the engine, @ 15.1.
► Engage the chain brake, @ 12.1.
► Allow the chain saw to cool down.

► Remove the filter cover (1).
► Remove the spark plug boot (2) by pulling the tab.
► Unscrew the spark plug and dry it.
► Move the Master Control Lever to position
in this position.
► Pull the starter grip and guide it back several times.
The combustion chamber will be cleared.

► Release the Master Control Lever.
The Master Control Lever springs back to position
released.
► Re-insert the spark plug and tighten it down firmly.
► Connect the spark plug boot (2) and press it down firmly.
► Mount the filter cover (1).
