4. Drum Unit

What You Need
• Accessory hex screwdriver provided with the machine.
• A drop cloth, newspaper, or other paper to spread in front of the machine and to
cover a nearby flat surface on which you can place the removed components.
WARNING
• To prevent electrical shock, turn off the color controller on the machine
control panel, turn off the operation power switch and then the main
power switch, and then disconnect the machine from the power supply
before replacing any parts or cleaning the machine's interior.
• Allow the machine to cool for at least 30 minutes before replacing a part.
Replacement Message
Replacement Required: Photoconductor Unit
(xxx)
In the message, "xxx" denotes the color of the drum unit that must be replaced.
Preparation: Print the counter list.
1. Press the [Counter] key on the control panel (see p.13 "Control Panel".) and
print out the counter list.
2. Turn the machine off. (See p.14 "Power Off Sequence".)
Important:
• The surface of a drum is sensitive to light.
• Exposing the surface of a drum to strong light (especially direct sunlight) can
permanently damage it.
• Never remove a new drum from its package until you are ready to install it.
• Always install a new drum as soon as you remove it from its package.
