Thank you for purchasing the 7 x 50 Finderscope with quick release mounting bracket, 200985. Below are the parts you will receive when purchasing the Finderscope and mounting kit. See figure 1 and 2. Step 1: Unpack all the items and make sure all the parts are present. Step 2: Use the two 10‐32 x 3/8" low profile socket head screws to mount the dovetail block to the mounting bracket. (the 10‐32 x 3/8" is McMaster #93615A370 Step 3: Find the two 1/4‐20 tapped holes on the back plate of your telescope. Their are 4 sets of these holes on your backplate and they are located at 45, 135, 225 and 315 degrees on your telescope back plate. Step 4: Use the two 1/4‐20 x 1/2 socket head cap screws with hand knobs attached to mount the mounting bracket to the back plate of the telescope. (on the CDK12.5, if you have the EFA kit, you should not mount the finderscope on the lower left hand set of holes because that is where the EFA kit mounts. Step 5: Slide the finderscope into the mounting rings. Use the set screws to hold the finder in place. Then slide the female dovetail of the finderscope mounting bracket rings onto the male dovetail mounted on the telescope and use the set screws on the side to set the finderscope mounting bracket rings in place. Step 6: Align the main telescope tube on an object like a bright star, planet or the moon. Once you have centered the object in the main telescope, then adjust the finderscope so it too is centered on the same object.
