M. ADJUSTING THE DRIVE CHAIN
SLACK
NOTE:
_
Before checking the drive chain slack,
rotate the rear wheels several turns and
check the slack at several points to find
the tightest point. Check the chain slack
with the rear wheels in this "tightest" posi-
tion.
1. Check:
drive chain slack (a)

25 ~ 35 mm (0.98 ~ 1.38 in)
NOTE:
_
Make sure that the vehicle is positioned
upright without an operator on it when
checking the chain slack.
2. Adjust:

NOTE:
The drive chain slack is adjusted by the
rotation of the rear axle hub (1).
a. Loosen the rear axle pinch bolts (2),
(3), (4) and (5).
NOTE:
Loosen the rear axle pinch bolts in the
proper sequence as shown.
b. Insert an appropriate shaft (6) in the
hole (7) of rear axle hub.
c. Shift the transmission into the neutral
position.
d. To loosen the drive chain, push the ATV
forward, and to tighten the drive chain,
pull the ATV backward.
CAUTION:
Excessive chain slack will overload the
engine and other vital parts; keep the
slack within the specified limits.
e. Tighten the rear axle pinch bolts (5),
(4), (3) and (2) to specification.

21 Nm (2.1 m · kg, 15 ft · lb)
NOTE:
Tighten the rear axle pinch bolts in the

reverse order that they were loosened.
The chain should be cleaned and lubri-

cated after every use of the vehicle.

LA CHAÎNE DE
TRANSMISSION
N.B.:
_
Avant de contrôler la tension de la chaîne de
transmission, faire tourner les roues arrière de
quelques tours et contrôler la tension en plu-
sieurs points afin de trouver le point où la
chaîne semble la plus tendue. C'est à ce point
qu'il faut contrôler et régler la tension de la
chaîne.
1. Contrôler:
tension de la chaîne de transmission (a)

Hors spécifications → Régler.

25 à 35 mm (0,98 à 1,38 in)
N.B.:
_
La tension de la chaîne se mesure le véhicule
droit et sans aucune charge.
2. Régler:

N.B.:
La tension de la chaîne de transmission se
règle par la rotation de l'essieu arrière (1).
a. Desserrer les vis de pincement d'essieu
arrière (2), (3), (4) et (5).
N.B.:
Desserrer les vis de pincement de l'essieu
arrière dans l'ordre illustré.
b. Insérer une tige de dimension adéquate (6)
dans l'orifice (7) de l'essieu arrière.
c. Mettre la boîte de vitesses au point mort.
d. Pour détendre la chaîne de transmission,
pousser le VTT vers l'avant et pour la ten-
dre, le tirer vers l'arrière.
ATTENTION:
Une tension trop grande impose un effort
excessif au moteur et à d'autres pièces maî-
tresses. Maintenir la tension dans les limites
spécifiées.
e. Serrer les vis de pincement d'essieu arrière
(5), (4), (3) et (2) au couple spécifié.

21 Nm (2,1 m · kg, 15 ft · lb)
N.B.:
Serrer les vis de pincement de l'essieu
G
arrière dans le sens inverse de leur desser-
rage.
Il convient de nettoyer et de lubrifier la
G
chaîne après chaque utilisation du véhicule.
