1.
MICROSCOPE ASSEMBLY (ref. fig. 1)
1.a) Remove the protective packaging of the stand (4) and of the head (2) and mount
the head onto the stand, being careful to tighten the head locking screw (3).
1.b) Carefully insert the eyepieces (13) into the head (2).
1.c) Firmly screw the objectives (16) into the nosepiece (15), positioning them,
clockwise, in increasing order of magnification.
1.d) Insert the blue conversion filter into the condenser filter holder ring (20).
In the case of models B5 and B5HP this filter has to be placed onto the collector
filter housing (21).
2.
OPERATING YOUR OPTECH BIOSTAR
2.1 Set-up (ref. fig. 1)
2.1 a) Insert the mains supply plug into a suitable supply socket, checking that the voltage
matches that indicated on the identification tag situated at the rear of the stand (4).
2.1 b) Turn on using the power on/off switch (12).
2.1 c) Place the specimen slide on the stage (7),securing it with the spring-arm slide holder (5).
2.1d) Using the co-axial spring-arm slide holder control knobs (10), position the specimen
directly under the objective (16).
2.2 Focussing onto the specimen (ref. fig. 1)
2.2 a) Select the 10x objective by rotating the nosepiece revolver (15) until this
objective locks into it's sprung slot.
2.2 b) Using the coarse/fine focussing control knob (11) raise or lower the stage (7)
until the specimen comes into focus, then use the fine focussing control knob to
obtain the clearest image.
2.2 c) Adjust the light intensity using the brightness control (24) until a clear, bright
image of the specimen is obtained.
2.2 d) If higher magnification is required, rotate the nosepiece revolver (15) selecting
the required objective and refocussing, if necessary, using the coarse/fine focussing
control knob (11).
2.3 Adjustment of the binocular or trinocular heads (2 - ref. fig. 1)
2.3 a) Adjust the interpupillary distance of the binocular
eyepiece tubes, unifying the right and left fields
of view (ref. fig. 2).
2.3 b) Looking only through the right eye
on the right eyepiece (13 - ref. fig. 1),
adjust the focus on the specimen using
the coarse/fine focussing control knobs
(11 - ref. fig. 1).
