Installing Drive Carriers in REO 9100
Once the appliance is in the rack, install the drive carriers
(Figure
6) into their appropriate slots.
CAUTION:
Each disk carrier MUST go into the slot with
the same number. The disk carriers are numbered on
the inside in front of the drive. The slots are numbered at
the front edge.
1. Position the drive carrier assembly in its slot with the
release button located on the right.
2. With the lever fully extended, carefully push the drive
assembly into the bay until it seats.
Attaching Cables
All cabling and power connections are located on the rear panel of your REO appliance
available for Ethernet, USB, and serial cabling. All unit cooling exhaust is handled through the rear panel.

2 - Data Port 2 (RJ-45)
3 - Data Port 1 (RJ-45)
Once the unit is secured in the rack and the disk drives
installed, you are ready to attach the cables and cords:
1. Using a Category 5e (or better) cable, connect a laptop
or management system to Data Port 1 (3).

3. Push the lever into place to lock the carrier.
4. Repeat
Steps 1–3
for each remaining disk drive
carrier.

NOTE:
To maintain proper airflow and cooling, a disk drive
or a blank drive carrier must be installed in every slot.
