Intended Use This cast iron pump is designed for clear (clean) water transfer applications on a farm, at aconstruction site, or at home. Grounding The pump must be grounded while in use to protect the operator from electrical shock. It is equipped with an electric cord that has an equipment-groundingconductor and a grounding plug. The plug MUST be plugged into a matching receptacle that is properly installed andgrounded in accordance with ALL local codes and ordinances.
Extension Cords USE A PROPER EXTENSION CORD. Make sure your extension cord is in good condition. When using an extension cord, be sure to use one heavy enough to carry the current your product will draw. An undersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage, resulting in loss of power and cause overheating.
Assembly On first delivery, check that all parts are present. Compare the contents of the shipping carton with the packing list. Priming the Pump The pump housing must be filled with water before starting the pump. This must be done after the pump is installed and all pipes connected, or may be necessary if the pump has not been run for a long time.
AfterEach Use Before moving the pump after use, unplug it then allow time for it to cool because it will be HOT.Disconnect the suction and discharge hoses then drain the pump housing and reinsert the plastic caps in the inlet and outlet ports. Also drain the hoses and coil them up. Never lift the pump by the power cord.
