Preparation Insert the SIM card. › The SIM card slot is on the right above the battery cavity. Slide the card in with the contacts facing down. Always use a tariff with a data package when using a smartphone. This will save you additional costs when transferring data while using the Internet.

Preparation Insert the battery. › Insert the battery, making sure the gold contacts of the battery and the phone are touching each other. Press the battery cover down onto the phone until it clicks into place on each side. Only use batteries, chargers and accessories that are permitted for this phone.
Putting the phone into operation 2. PUTTING THE PHONE INTO OPERATION 2.1 Charging the battery Before you use the phone for the first time, charge the battery for at least four hours. If you don't charge the phone for this period of time, the battery life could be reduced.

Putting the phone into operation Using the charging cradle › The charging cradle allows you to charge your smartphone easily and also gives you a fixed place where you can leave your phone when you're at home. To use it, plug the charging cable's USB-C connector into the port on the back of the charging cradle and then place the phone in the charging cradle.
When you turn your phone on the first time, the start-up process can take up to two minutes. The emporia logo will be on the screen when this is happening. Please do not interrupt this process.
Putting the phone into operation 2.3 Entering a PIN code Enter the four-digit PIN code for your SIM card when asked to do so and confirm the code. Your PIN code (personal identification number) will be a four-digit number combination and is intended to protect your SIM card and therefore your phone from misuse.

Establishing connections 4.5 Connecting to a PC to transfer data You can plug your emporiaSMART.3 into your PC and then transfer data easily. Plug the USB connector end into the PC and the other end into your phone. The phone will detect the connection and the following message will appear in the info centre: USB for charging.
Establishing connections 4.6 Software updates With the emporiaSMART.3, you can download the latest software for the phone and therefore update the system and improve applications yourself. 1. Establishing connections 4.7 Downloading apps A number of useful apps are already installed on your emporiaSMART.3 and these are listed in All apps on the app screen. You can also install other apps from the Internet any time, however. To do this, turn on Wi-Fi or enable mobile data usage.
Emergency call function 5. EMERGENCY CALL FUNCTION Your phone is equipped with an emergency call function. You can use it to call for help quickly in an emergency. button has been preset to be off, as this function will only work efficiently if it is adapted to your needs. Read the instructions carefully and set the emergency function according to your needs.

Emergency call function • If you want to add a help organisation or an official institution such as a rescue service, the police or the fire brigade as an emergency contact, it is imperative that you check this is okay with the respective institution beforehand.

Private emergency contacts will be sent a text informing them of the incoming emergency call: You will receive an emergency call.
