How to upgrade firmware of Edimax RE11 units?

Thank you for purchasing our RE11 wireless roaming kit. We suggest you upgrade the firmware of both RE11

units.

1. First of all, please check the label on top of the RE11. It will show the default wireless network name

"edimaxExt.Setup xx"and the pre-set wireless password of your RE11 units. You may want to write them down.

Please note the wireless password is case sensitive. Make sure you use upper case for the wireless password

2. Plug just one extender into a power socket and keep the other extender off. Wait for the Power LED (the 4

one) turn to solid state. This may take 2 to 3 minutes.

3. Use a wireless computer to go to Edimax web site at

http://www.edimax.us

to download the latest firmware

of RE11. Go to "Driver Download" under "Support" menu bar.

Look for the product model number RE11. You will find the link of the latest firmware file.

Click on the link and you will download the RE11 firmware file to your download folder.

If you prefer to download the firmware file to the desktop screen of your computer, you can right click on the

blue link then left click on "Save Link As" or "Save Target As" and choose desktop screen as the destination.

Just download the file. The file will be needed later. Don't open the firmware file now.

Page 2 4. Click on the Wireless icon on the bottom right corner of your computer to search for available wireless networks. Make your wireless computer connect to the Wi-Fi network called “edimaxExt.Setup xx” and type in the pre-set uppercased wireless password. It is normal your computer has no Internet at this point because the extender does not connect to your Wi-Fi network yet.
Page 3 Click on “Browse” or “Choose File” button. Go to the place (your desktop screen or your download folder) to find the firmware file that you download from our web site. Click on “Open”. Click on “Apply” button. Click on OK. Click on OK.
Page 4 The upgrade may take 3 minutes. The upgrade is completed. 7. Hold down the WPS button on the extender for 20 seconds. This will make sure extender with default settings in new firmware. After the reset, wait for the power LED turn to solid. 8.
