BEFORE CALLING FOR SERVICE

Check the following list to be sure a service call is really necessary. A quick reference to this manual may
help you avoid an unneeded service call.
THE AIR CONDITIONER WILL NOT OPERATE
Check if...
Wall plug disconnected.
House fuse blown or circuit breaker tripped.
MODE selector is OFF position.
Unit was turned off and then on too quickly.
TEMP Control set warmer than room temperature.
The current interrupter device is triped
AIR FROM UNIT DOES NOT FEEL COLD ENOUGH.
Check if...
Fan Speed Switch in LOW position.
Control Knob set too warm.
Room temperature below 70°F (21°C).
Temperature sensing tube touching evaporator coil,
located behind front grille.
THE AIR CONDITIONER COOLING, BUT ROOM IS TOO WARM – ICE FORMING ON COOLING COIL BEHIND INLET GRILLE.
Check if...
Outdoor temperature below 70°F (21°C).
Air filter may be dirty.
Mode/Temp control Knob set too cold for
night-time cooling.
THE AIR CONDITIONER COOLING, BUT ROOM IS TOO WARM
Check if...
Dirty air filter – air restricted.
Mode/Temp control Knob set too warm.
Front of unit is blocked by drapes, blinds, furniture,
etc. Air distribution is restricted.
Doors, windows, registers, etc. open. Cold air escapes.
Unit recently turned on in hot room.
THE AIR CONDITIONER TURNS ON AND OFF RAPIDLY.
Check if...
Outside temperature is extremely hot.
NOISE WHEN UNIT IS COOLING.
Check if...
Sound of fan hitting water – from the moisture removal system.
Window vibration – poor installation.
WATER DRIPPING INSIDE ROOM WHEN UNIT IS COOLING.
Check if...
The air conditioner is improperly installed.
WATER DRIPPING OUTSIDE WHEN UNIT IS COOLING.
Check if...
The unit is removing large quantities of moisture
from humid room.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Then...
Push plug firmly into wall outlet.
Replace fuse with time delay type or reset circuit breaker.
Turn MODE selector to the desired COOL setting.
Turn unit off and wait 3 minutes before restarting.
Turn TEMP Control clockwise to a cooler setting (higher number).
Press the RESET button located on the power cord plug
If the RESET button will not stay engaged, discontinue use of the air
conditioner and contact a qualified service technician.
Then...
Turn Fan Speed Switch to HI position
Turn Mode/Temp Control Knob clockwise to a cooler setting.
Cooling may not occur until room temperature rises above 70°F (21°C).
Remove front grille, and straighten tube away from evaporator coil.
Then...
To defrost the coil, set Mode/Temp Control Knob to Fan Only position.
Clean filter. Refer to Maintenance section of owner's manual. To defrost,
set Mode/Temp control to Fan Only position.
To defrost the coil, set Mode/Temp control to Fan Only position.
Then...
Clean air filter. Refer to Maintenance section of owner's manual.
Control Knob clockwise to a COOLER setting.
Clear blockage in front of unit.
Close doors, windows, registers, etc.
Allow additional time to remove stored heat from walls, ceiling, floor, and furniture.
Then...
Set Fan Speed Switch on HIGH speed to bring air past cooling coils faster.
Then...
This is normal when humidity is high. Close doors, windows, and registers.
Refer to installation instructions or check with installer.
Then...
Tilt air conditioner slightly to the outside to allow water drainage. Refer to
installation instructions or check with installer.
Then...
This is normal during excessively humid days.
