How to tint in your washer
• Use the Normal Cycle, launder items
prior to tinting. Remove from washer.
• Reset dial to beginning of Regular
Cycle. Set Wash/Rinse temperature selec-
tion for Hot Wash. Allow machine to fill.
• When agitation starts, push in Control
Knob to stop agitation. Pour in dye
(mixed to manufacturer's recommenda-
tions) by straining through several layers
of cheesecloth to prevent streaking. Pull
out Control Knob and allow machine to
agitate for a short time... 2 to 3 minutes.
• Stop machine by pushing in Control
Knob. Put items to be tinted into washer.
• Re-start machine and allow fabric to
agitate in water until cloth is slightly
darker than desired shade. Time depends
on bulk, weight of fabric and color
desired.
• Let washer finish complete cycle. If
rinse water is descolored, rinse again.
• Remove tinted items from washer.
• Clean washer to make sure that the dye
has been removed. Fill with hot water,
add 1/4 cup detergent, 1/2 cup of bleach
and allow to agitate 5 minutes. Then
complete cycle. Wipe up any dye spilled
on exterior of washer with a clean cloth
dipped in bleach. Then sponge with cold
water.
NOTE:
Occasionally some dyes and
stains will discolor the plastic parts of
your washer. These should be wiped clean
with a damp cloth after tinting. Check
washer carefully after tinting. If all dye
has not been removed, your next wash
load may be discolored.
• Tinted garments are not absolutely
colorfast. When washing, wash by them-
selves.
How to sanitize in your washer
When there is illness in your family, you
may want to use a laundry sanitizer to
provide extra protection against infection.
The most readily available sanitizer is
liquid chlorine bleach. Instructions for its
uses are given in the bleaching section on
page 9.
We recommend using hot or warm wash
water for all loads requiring sanitizing.
How to wash
special kinds of fabrics
Silk and Wool:
blends with wool. Use
warm water. Wash with a light duty, fine
fabric or specialty detergent. Use cold
