    Audio CD (CDDA) Audio CDs contain music tracks only. You will recognise these CDs by their logo. You can play them in conventional style through a stereo system, using the keys on the remote control and/or front panel, or via the TV using the On- screen Display (OSD).

    Operation General Explanation About this manual This manual gives the basic instructions for operating the SACD player. Some DVDs require specific operation or allow only limited operation during playback. When this occurs, the symbol Ä appears on the TV screen, indicating that the operation is not permitted by the player or the disc.

    V Personal Preferences In this mode you can set your personal preferences for a number of player features. Some settings must always be selected. This depends on the type of audio equipment connected. For this see the section ‘Connecting to audio equipment.
  • Page 19 – PCM output PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) is a method of encoding audio information in a digital format. PCM samples analog audio information at a fixed sampling rate and measures the amplitude (volume) of the audio signal with a precision determined by the sampling size.

    Access control; Parental control (DVD-Video only) Movies on DVDs may contain scenes not suitable for children. Therefore, discs may contain ‘Parental Control’ information which applies to the complete disc or to certain scenes on the disc. These scenes are rated from 1 to 8, and alternative, more suitable scenes are available on the disc.
