Operation

6.1 Switching on the reader
Shortly press the
and "FAIL"light up for a short period of time. The reader is operational as soon as the
"ON" button lights up.
6.2 Testing
- Position the LifeCheck
ted and make sure that the LifeCheck
and the protection module are in line with each other (see
Figure)
- Press the "TEST" button
- After testing, the following result is displayed: If the test
was successful: "PASS" LED lights up for about 2 seconds. If
the protection module is pre-damaged (faulty LifeCheck
"FAIL" LED lights up for about 2 seconds
The pre-damaged protection module should be replaced to further ensure system availa-
bility.
6.3 Switching off the reader
Press the
button until the "ON" LED goes out
or
the device is switched off automatically if no tests are performed for about 3 minutes.
6.4 Charging the reader
The reader should be charged as soon as the green "ON" LED flashes.
The device is connected to the mains socket via the supplied power supply unit and USB
cable. If a USB connection of a PC is used for charging the device, ensure that it has an
output current of at least 500 mA.
As long as the integrated battery is charged, the yellow
out after the battery has been fully charged and the reader can be disconnected from po-
wer supply.
Notes:
The
LED might light up during testing, if the device is still connected to the power supply while opera-
ted in the test mode immediately after the charging process has been completed (
up any more).
Ensure that the ambient temperature lies between 0 and +45 °C during the charging procedure.
