9 Emergency Procedures

9.1 Flyaway Procedures

In position mode, the US-1 uses GPS to maintain its location. In the
extremely unlikely event of a GPS or radio error, a US-1 in position
mode could begin moving when no command is given , causing a
"Flyaway".
Should a flyaway occur:
1. Switch to altitude mode.
2. If the aircraft is still not controllable in altitude mode, set re-
turn to home using the return to home switch.
3. Should the aircraft not return to home, turn off the controller.
This will cause the aircraft to lose connection and automati-
cally return to home.

9.2 Post-Crash Procedures

Should the US-1 be dropped, crashed, or otherwise damaged:
1. Disarm the vehicle and verify that no fire or smoke is present
before approaching the vehicle.
2. From a distance, inspect the vehicle to verify that any damage
is restricted to the legs and propellers.
If significant airframe damage is present, a lithium-ion battery
fire is possible. The US-1's hardshell case was designed to contain
a battery fire. If a vehicle is damaged but no evidence of a fire is
present, place the vehicle in its case and contact Impossible Tech-
nical Support for next steps at (408)675-1195.
Fires from the US-1 can only occur when battery energy is being
released in an uncontrolled manner. If the vehicle has caught fire,
make sure to stay upwind as fumes from the burning vehicle can
be toxic. If it is safe to do so, evacuate areas downwind as much as
feasible.
