In the event of a low battery or loss of communications, US-
1 will automatically return to the launch site. To override an
automatic return to launch, cycle the return to launch toggle
switch towards and then away from the operator.
7.4 Landing US-1
1. Before landing US-1, tilt the camera upward to protect its lens
from dust and debris.
2. To land, hover over the desired landing spot and pull the left
stick towards the operator until the vehicle lands and disarms.
3. The vehicle will automatically disarm and the propellers will
stop spinning. Keep the stick pulled towards the operator until
the propellers stop spinning.
Like all rotorcraft, the US-1 experiences a 'ground effect' when it
gets within roughly two feet of the ground. If US-1's distance sen-
sor has not detected the ground, the ground effect will temporarily
disrupt landing. To land successfully through ground effect, pull
the left stick all the way to the operator.

7.5 Operating the FLIR Camera and Gimbal

The US-1's FLIR Camera is controlled in flight by the two gimbal
dials and the gimbal mode switch.
The Gimbal Tilt Dial, on the left shoulder of the controller,
rotates the camera up and down. Spin the dial away from the
operator to look upwards, and towards the operator to look
down. Center the dial to stop the camera from rotating.
The Gimbal Pan Dial, on the right shoulder of the controller,
rotates the camera left and right. Spin the dial away from the
operator to look left, and towards the operator to look right.
Center the dial to stop the camera from rotating.
