Introductions
Thank you very much for purchasing a Fostex product.
This manual provides instructions for basic use of the unit.
Read this manual before using the unit for the fi rst time.
This model uses a directly heated triode (300B) and brings together the essence of Fostex technology making it our fl agship headphone
amplifi er model.
Amplifi es the sound from any audio device with a line out for output to headphones.
Major Features
• The proprietary "Stabilized Tube-controlled Power Circuit (ST-PC)" powering system uses KT88 tubes to signifi cantly reduce residual
noise and achieve an S/N ratio of 115 dB.
• It is equipped with an E88CC voltage amplifi er tube and a 300B output tubes.
• The power supply assembly comprises a toroidal power transformer, heat transformer and choke transformer manufactured by Bando
Electronics.
• Equipped with a custom made Hashimoto Electric output transformer, which provides both balanced and unbalanced outputs.
• The 2 kg base plate is made of aluminum. The use of Tefl on washers and oxygen-free copper (OFC) plates between the output tubes
and the base plate eliminates vibration noise.
• High-quality electronic audio controls are used to minimize the diff erence in right and left channel sound volumes.
• Equipped with the latest in custom made electrolytic and fi lm capacitors.
• Equipped with a Furutech AC inlet.

Precautions
• This unit comes with a power cable that has two blades and a grounding prong.
Connect it properly to a wall outlet with a protective ground terminal.
• Connect the unit to a wall outlet that makes it easy to disconnect the plug when needed.
• Turning the unit off does not disconnect it from the power supply. To disconnect the unit from the power supply, remove the plug
from the wall outlet.
• Some smart phones and other transmitting devices used near the unit may cause interference and noise in amplifi er output. Setting a
smart phone to airplane mode to shut down transmission may often minimize noise from interference.
• The vacuum tubes in the unit generate a lot of heat. Use the unit with care to prevent burn injuries.
High voltages are used inside the unit. Never use it with the cover removed.
Allow 30 cm or more of space from the wall on each side and behind the unit and 1 m of space or more above the unit.
Do not cover the unit with a cloth or other object when it is operating.
• Vacuum tubes, by their nature, have a tendency to be aff ected by power supply noise and interference from electrical appliances
nearby.
• Vacuum tubes also tend to convert vibrations into audible noise. Do not use the unit in a location exposed to frequent vibrations.
Impedance changes and connecting/disconnecting headphones may generate vibrations that result in strange noises. Filaments of
directly heated triodes introduce vibrating noise at ambient temperature before fi lament temperature stabilizes. This is normal and
not a cause for concern.
• Vacuum tubes are consumables. They require regular maintenance. Do not use the unit in a location exposed to dust. If dust is
allowed to accumulate inside the unit, the unit could be damaged or a fi re could occur. Have your dealer clean the inside of the unit
once every three years. The warranty period for the vacuum tubes in the unit is 6 months from the date of purchase. After installation,
consult your dealer for handling instructions when you plan to move the unit, for example, when moving house.
• Maximum output is as high as 2,000 mW (at 16 Ω). Be sure to lower the sound volume when connecting and disconnecting
headphones.
Be careful with the sound volume setting especially when turning ON and OFF DIRECT INPUT.
