CHAPTER 17: The Android Market
Google Checkout is an online payment-processing
system. Register for a Google Checkout account by
going to https://checkout.google.com/buyerSignup
and using the same Google account you use as the
main account for your phone. You can enter your
credit card information, and Google will store it. Be
sure to register in advance, so you can avoid the
hassle of entering credit card info on a phone
keyboard.
You can purchase apps in most foreign currencies
using Google Checkout and your credit card, as long
as your credit card allows foreign currency
transactions. Google will give you an estimate of
what the price is in US dollars, as shown in the
screen capture to the right. However, your credit
card may charge you a fee for currency conversion or
use a different exchange rate, and that won't be
reflected in the estimate.
NOTE: You have 24 hours after purchasing an app to "return" it for a full refund. Your refund
price does not include any transaction fees for foreign currency.
