FRITZ!Box can be connected to either the LAN port or the USB
port of the Apple computer.
Check whether your computer is equipped with a LAN port. A
LAN port is usually designated by the icon at left or labeled
"LAN".
If your computer is not equipped with a LAN port, connect
FRITZ!Box using the USB port.
An operating system version of 10.3.3 or higher is required
to connect FRITZ!Box to the USB port. If you work with an
older version, connect FRITZ!Box via the LAN port of your
computer.
If you would like to connect multiple computers to FRITZ!Box,
you can use both connection methods. FRITZ!Box can also
be connected to the uplink port of a network hub or switch.
Connecting to the LAN Port
FRITZ!Box is configured as a DSL modem by default.
If the Internet connection is to be used jointly by all connect-
ed computers, FRITZ!Box must be switched from modem op-
eration to router operation.
Using FRITZ!Box as a DSL Modem
1.
Connect FRITZ!Box to the network adapter of the Apple
computer (see "Connecting FRITZ!Box to the LAN Port"
from page 21).
2.
Install an Internet software package that can establish
DSL connections with the PPPoE (PPP over Ethernet)
protocol.
3.
Enter in this Internet access software the access infor-
mation provided by your DSL Internet Service Provider.
