    These standards differentiate between gross and net transmission rates. The net speed describes the transmis- sion rate of the user data. The FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick supports the 802.11g wireless Data Throughput standard and is downward compatible to 802.11b net- works. The standard used in a given WLAN depends on the settings of the WLAN access point.

When es- tablishing a WLAN connection using products from other manufacturers, always make sure that the set- ting “Open” or “Open Key” is set for registration or authentication in the manufacturer’s software.

    First check the “Device Manager” in the “Control Panel” to see whether the device is listed and disabled. Enable the device. If it is not listed, uninstall the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick and repeat the installation as described in the manual.

Pull the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick out if it is not posi- tioned correctly and insert it into the USB port again. Install the latest chip set drivers.     Try again to establish a WLAN con- nection. For the settings in this table it is presumed that an AVM WLAN product from the FRITZ!Box family is used with WPA/WPA2 encryption (mixed mode). In general it is al- ways advisable to secure your WLAN using the most se- cure mechanism supported by your WLAN remote site.
  • Page 37 Make sure that the power supply of the WLAN remote site is se- cure and that the device is switched on. Check whether the WLAN remote site is within transmission range of the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick. Reduce the distance and try to establish the connection again.
