2.11.2 Installing CIM-1000K-20

1. Remove the cover from the transceiver.
Refer to step 1 in
2.10.2 Installing QE-2 Board on
page
35.
DO NOT DAMAGE PACKING SEALS BETWEEN THE
TRANSCEIVER AND THE COVER. YOU MUST ALSO
KEEP DUST AWAY FROM THE PACKING SEALS. IF
THE SEALS ARE DAMAGED OR COVERED WITH DUST,
WATERPROOF AND DUSTPROOF CHARACTERISTICS
WILL DEGRADE.
2. Attach Type-A tape to the connector side of the
CIM-1000K-20 board, and then peel off the cover
sheet.

3. Stack 3 Type-B tapes, and then attach the stack of
tapes to the solder pad side of the CIM-1000K-20
board as shown in the figure.

Do not peel off this label.
*
If you peel off the top label of the
stacked tapes, the adhesive tape
may adhere to the shield plate of
the transceiver. When you remove
the shield plate with the adhesive
3.2 mm
tape adhered to the shield plate, the
(0.13 inch)
PCB may be suffered from
unexpected stress. It may result in
damaging the transceiver.

The stacked tape
thickness is 9.6 mm
(3/8 inch).
Peel-off
Attach the tape so that a letter
J on the CIM-1000K-20 shoud
not be covered by the tape.
2 CONNECTING OPTIONAL DEVICES
4. Connect the CIM-1000K-20 board with double-
sided adhesive tape to the connector on the TX-RX
PCB.
20-pin connector
Note:
Chip jumpers on the PCB in the transceiver must be
replaced when using CIM-1000K-20 and GPS
simultaneously. Refer to
Chip Jumpers on page
An optional board (CIM-1000K-20 or KW-21) and KAP-2
cannot be used simultaneously.
Following this installation method, the ANI board is installed
at a position where pressure is equally distributed to protect
the 20-pin connector from various stresses, such as
vibration. Therefore, the cushion is installed only on the 20-
pin side. Using a cushion with excessive thickness, size or
hardness, or attaching a cushion without avoiding large
circuit components on the PCB may upset the pressure
balance and apply unnecessary stress on the connector
causing the connector to break due to aging degradation.
5. Reinstall the cover.
OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS TO
PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE TRANSCEIVER AND
CIM-100K-20 AS A RESULT OF DROPPING THEM AND
FROM VEHICLE VIBRATION.
USE ONLY THE PROCEDURE DESCRIBED IN THIS
MANUAL TO INSTALL CIM-1000K-20 IN A
TRANSCEIVER.
TAPE WITH DUST ON THE ADHESIVE SURFACE
SHOULD NOT BE USED.
TAPE PURCHASED MORE THAN 1 YEAR AGO, OR
TAPE WITH POOR ADHESION CHARACTERISTICS,
SHOULD NOT BE USED.
STORE REMAINING TAPE IN A SEALED PLASTIC BAG
IN A DARK AND COOL PLACE.
