TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

When troubles occur, be sure to check simple causes which, at fi rst, may seem too obvious to be considered. For
example, a starting problem could be caused by an empty fuel tank.
Some general common causes of generator troubles are listed below. Use these to locate causing factors.
Condition
No AC output
Alternator can't output
rated power
Alternator excitation
failure
High no load voltage
Low no load voltage
Proper voltage at no load
but low voltage at load
Proper voltage in no
load conditions but high
voltage at load
Unstable voltage
Noisy alternator

Solution
Switch circuit breaker to ON.
Press circuit protectors.
Adjust engine running at normal operating
temperature to 3600 ± 100 RPM.
Test for voltage at circuit breaker and
receptacles.
Test for voltage and resistance.
Adjust engine running at normal operating
temperature to 3600 ± 100 RPM.
Calculate electrical power required by
electric appliances (in watts). Reduce total
wattage of connected electric devices
within application range.
Repair faulty appliance.
Adjust engine running at normal operating
temperature to 3600 ± 100 RPM.
Check and replace.
