Upgrading CHAPTER 6 This section describes how you upgrade your NetProfiler environment from a xx70 hardware appliance to a xx80 hardware appliance. When you upgrade the existing environment, the user configurations and the historical data are migrated to the new appliance.
Upgrading How to upgrade your environment The following process describes how you upgrade your environment: 1. Back up the existing system configuration to a temporary location on the new appliance. Do not back up the flow and roll-up data. 2. Choose the flow and roll-up data to copy to the new appliance, according to your requirements. Note: Adjust log files size allocation accordingly on the new appliance, to maintain custom log files allocation from the current environment.
Upgrading Prepare to Upgrade Before you can upgrade your existing appliance, you must prepare the current and new appliance: 1. Do not power off the current appliance. 2. Rack and complete the initial setup of the new appliance, including installing the new licenses. Verify that you can access the current appliance over the network.
Page 34
Upgrading 1. Prepare the data for migration. Do the following: 1. Verify there is sufficient disk space for each log type on the system. 2. Stop all service on the current and new appliances. 3. Run the screen command using a command line window on the current appliance, to open a screen session. Copy the policy log file to the new appliance Base module.
Page 35
Upgrading rm –rf /mnt/data/migration Import Data in to the MySQL Database After you imported the user configuration and historical data, you can import data in to the MySQL database. Follow these steps: 1. On the existing appliance, stop all ‘mazu’ services on the existing appliance. Execute this command: sudo service mazuctl stopall 2.
Note: If you are licensing multiple Enterprise NetProfiler appliances to run with different features or capacities, navigate to the Riverbed licensing web site and assign the licenses to the serial numbers of the products. To license a single Enterprise NetProfiler that has Internet access, you do not need to log on to the licensing website.
4. Confirm that the licenses are listed on the Licenses page and that the status of each is green. Note: If you select the Enable automatic license download from Riverbed option on Licenses page, the appliance checks for any additional licenses once per day.
Page 39
Perform Manual licensing Configuring License Keys Verify Successful Installation You verify a successful lnstallation of the Enterprise NetProfiler by making sure that the product receives traffic data from at least one source. To determine if it is receiving data, log in to the user interface, and navigate to the System, Devices/Interfaces page. Check the status of Flow Gateway, NetShark or other data source devices on the Devices tab.
3. Create a directory to contain the software image, by running the following command sudo mkdir /mnt/spare/install This specific name is required. 4. Navigate to support.riverbed.com and select Software & Documentation, SteelCentral Network Performance Management, SteelCentral NetProfiler. 5. Display the page for the version of the software your NetProfiler is running.
Page 42
Adding Expansion Modules If the NetProfiler has Internet access, you could download the installation file directly from the UI Module CLI: cd /mnt/spare/install/ sudo wget <full URL to the file on the Support site> You could download the installation file to another location on the management network and use the following command to copy it from that location to the installation directory on the Base Module: sudo scp <user@server:/path/to/file>...
Adding Expansion Modules Gateway: 10.38.128.1 NOTE: Setup will conclude with a reboot of this SteelCentral device. After all modules have rebooted, setup can be completed by logging into the UI at https://10.38.129.68/ Login as admin/admin. NOTICE: All existing settings and logs will be lost. Finish Setup and Reboot? (yes/no): yes Working..
