Pierenkemper Operating Manual - PierenPlus basic
The periods of time are automatically given by the device. First the electrodes are
placed, the device is switched ON, and the intensity is adjusted slowly up to the
wanted value, so that a clear muscle activity is felt, without being painful. The
device runs automatically with the working and pause times described above.
In principal, all muscles that lie relatively close to the skin surface can be trained.
Always pay attention to assure a clean application skin and a complete contact
of the electrode. If the contact is not sufficient, discomfort and skin irritations, as
well as an insufficient muscle convulsion can occur. The electrodes must not be in
contact to each other. The ideal treatment is when the patient achieves a possibly
high muscle convulsion with a relatively low intensity.
For the treatment of bigger muscles the application of both electrode pairs are
useful.
The therapy usually takes place with a patient in lying or sitting position. If the
patient is not used to such a therapy form, the first stimulation shall not be longer
than 10-15 minutes, as stimulation can cause sore muscles.
For the practical work of muscles, please prevent the body from getting cold.
Programme 10 and 11
These programmes are perfectly practical for relaxing the muscles. The effect is
similar to a massage.
