    1. Installation Environment Deciding on an Installation Site Install the machine in a quiet and stable location offering good operating conditions. An unsuitable location may cause accidents, fires, faulty operations, or malfunctions. WARNING Install the machine in a location that is level, stable, and able to bear the weight of the machine.

    1. Installation Environment Temperature and Humidity Maintain the specified temperature and humidity even when the machine is not in use. If temperatures are too high or too low, it may cause the machine malfunction. During operation: Temperature 15 to 32˚C (59 to 90˚F), relative humidity 35 to 80% (no condensation) During non-operation: Temperature 5 to 40˚C (41 to 104˚F), relative humidity 20 to 80% (no condensation) Installation Space The space shown in the figure is required in order to use this machine.

    3. Assembling and Installing Step 1: Assembling the Stand – Mounting the Machine CAUTION Unpacking and installation must be carried out by six or more persons. Remove them after the completion of installation.  Remove all the retainers and packaging materials. Failure to do so may result in faulty operation or mal- function when the machine is turned on.

  • Page 34 5. Installing the Ink Cartridges Cleaning fluid is necessary for this operation. Cleaning fluid is not supplied with the machine. For more information about purchasing cleaning fluid, contact your authorized Roland DG Corp. dealer. Switch on the power and make the initial settings.

    6. Network Settings Introduction This machine has a built-in print server as a network interface. The use of the print server allows you to send print data to the machine from anywhere on the network. TCP/IP is used as the protocol. Make sure the machine is connected to the network by an Ethernet cable. The network settings on the machine must be made manually, using the operation panel.

As the output, set up the IP address you specified on the printer side. See the manual of the software RIP for setting procedure. Use the test print function of the software RIP to check for completion of network connection.

    7. When Not in Use for a Prolonged Period Keep Performing Maintenance Switch On the Power Once a Month Switch on the sub power at least once a month. When you turn on the power, the machine automatically performs some operations, such as one to protect the print heads from drying out. Allowing the machine to stand completely unused for a prolonged period may damage the print heads, so be sure to switch on the power to perform these automatic operations.

When Moving the Unit Procedures from Preparing to Move through Reinstalling When relocating the machine, drain the internal ink completely and fix the print heads in place using the retainer to protect them. Note that relocating the machine without fixing the print heads may damage the internal components due to leakage of ink or may cause breakage of the print heads.
